Introduction to the Dornoch Foods team

Leslie Price

Raised in Collingwood, I became an accomplished Junior Golfer at Blue Mountain Golf Club. This was back in the day when the club was 9 holes. Playing round after round with my brother and the boys during the summers at the club was to shape my future in golf and set the stage for a wonderful life. At the age of 16 in 1981, I captured the Foreign Division Title at the World Junior Golf Championships at Torrey Pines. Upon graduating from CCI, I received a golf scholarship at Lamar University in Texas where I developed my game and earned a degree in Criminal Justice.

After several years on various Women’s Tours in North America and Europe, I decided that maybe becoming a Teaching/Associate Golf Professional was a better option. I obtained my Class A CPGA Certification while working at Weston Golf Club for 8 years. Eventually, I moved on in 1998 to teach at Maple Downs Golf & CC where I met Steve, who was the Course Superintendent at the time. The other Steve was the Executive Chef (Stephen Jackson). I continued teaching golf and ended my career with Sandra Post at her academy up at Glen Eagle GC. Along the way I also practiced Dental Hygiene for about 10 years before deciding to write my Real Estate exams and become a realtor with Prudential Select Real Estate in Bolton, now Coldwell Banker Select.

Steve and I relocated from Bolton to Collingwood in 2013, where we currently reside. I have continued with real estate along with becoming a Restaurant Owner/Operator. Both Steve and I love to travel. We also enjoy good food. I guess that is what gave us the inspiration for the Dornoch which has developed into a cozy, quaint, little pub where every day it seems like I am meeting local people from my past which has allowed me to reconnect with them.

We are all very excited to be coming on board at BMGCC as your NEW caterers for 2021!! It feels like “coming home” but not exactly the way I expected.

Steve Holmes

With almost 30 years experience in golf after tenures as Asst. Course Superintendent at The Donalda Club and Devil’s Pulpit Golf Association, prior to becoming Course Superintendent at both Maple Downs Golf & CC and most recently Rosedale Golf Club in Toronto.

In 2013, I turned Restaurateur with the opening of Dornoch Tap and Grill, located in the village of Nottawa. Thanks to my good friend Stephen Jackson, we were able to open the Dornoch based a lot on his experience and advice. It took us several years to establish a steady clientele that could count on consistent, good fare, reasonably priced and an atmosphere that is very comforting to all.

My wife Leslie Price, a Collingwood gal, and I first met when we worked at Maple Downs Golf & CC, Leslie as an Associate Golf Professional at the time. Leslie and I have been successfully operating the Dornoch with a great team both in the kitchen and the front of the house. With neither of us having any previous F&B experience we are both extremely proud of the business that we have built together in the past 7 years.

As another chapter begins…Leslie and I are both looking forward to teaming up with Stephen Jackson and Blue Mountain Golf Club in 2021, as your new caterer!!

Stephen Jackson

Stephen’s passion for food developed at a young age, and has only grown and strengthened throughout his time in the field of culinary arts. Having worked as the Executive Chef, Catering Coordinator and Director of Food & Beverage at several prestigious organizations and restaurants over the last 40 years, he has fine-tuned his ability to elevate classic dishes from standard fare to a 5-star dining experience.

Simultaneously, Stephen has owned and operated a private catering company for the last 35 years. He has mastered the art of listening to clients’ ideas, curating tailored food and drink menus, and pulling off incredible weddings, birthday/anniversary parties, on-site company functions and private in-home parties. His unique and renowned approach to cuisine has made him well respected and admired by his guests and staff.

Overall, Stephen is looking forward to bringing his knowledge, skill and passion for food to Blue Mountain Golf Club. Through consulting and working with Steve, Leslie, and their staff, we will work to create a dining experience that members will admire for years to come.
